Real estate in Mexico is surrounded by some amazing historical sites and wonderful natural scenic spots.  If you are looking to purchase real estate in Mexico then you will certainly be spoilt for choice.  Mexico benefits from being the country which has the most places declared as World Heritage sites by UNESCO, being 26 sites. These sites range from historical cities, historical buildings, natural areas, archaeological zones, and pre-historic cave paintings. The first site to be declared as World Heritage in Mexico was in 1987. Some of the 26 locations include:
» The historical city of Campeche. Declared a World Heritage Site in 2002, the old city features many well preserved forts,
    historic gates, and bulwarks, and is surrounded by a huge wall. All dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, and once used
    to protect the city from pirate attacks.
» The historical city of Guanajuato. This city was one of the first in Mexico to be colonized by the Spanish, and its stunning
    architecture is well preserved. Some popular sites include the Templo de San Diego and the Basilica Senora de Guanajuato.
» The historical city of Querétaro. Is a city rich in history, and founded in 1571. It has some magnificent examples of baroque
    architecture located within its city centre. Such examples include the Teatro de la Requblica, and the Templo y Convento de
    la Cruz.
» The historical buildings such as the 16th century convents in Querétaro called las Misiones de la Sierra Gorda, the house of
    the famous architect Luis Barragán situated in Mexico City, and the Hospicio Cabañas in Guadalajara.
» The archaeological zone at Chichén Itzá situated in the state of Yucatán is a pre-Columbian site built by the Mayan
    civilization, and offers visitors a wonderful look into the historical significance of this once powerful and wealthy ancient city. 
    Featuring some wonderful stone structures, some of which are well preserved, the most impressive being El Castillo or the
    Pyramid of Kukulcan.
» The archaeological zone at Teotihuacán in the state of Mexico was one of the first sites in the country to be declared a World
    Heritage Site in 1987. Covering a very large area, it offers some stunning structures including the Pyramid of the Moon and
    Pyramid of the Sun. This area provides an amazing example of pre-Hispanic life in one of the largest cities in the Americas
    during the 1st Millennium AD.
» The pre-historical cave paintings depicting wonderful examples of early life can be seen in Sierra de San Francisco, in Baja
    California.
» The natural areas declared World Heritage Sites include El Vizcaino in Baja California, Sian Ka’an in the state of Quintana
    Roo, and the Islands of Mar de Cortés.
